An interesting new theory from The Acolyte reveals how the Witches of Brandok actually fit into the history and legacy of the Dark Lords of the Star Wars Sith. After the wheel is revealed to have the power to create life in episode 3 of Acolyte, a connection is made to Darth Plagueis. This is due to Palpatine's comment about his Sith Master in Revenge of the Sith stating that Plagueis also has the power to manipulate the Force and create life.
However, the Star Wars Beyond the Dune Sea podcast suggests that the sorcerer learned this power from Plagueis himself, not from Mother Aniseia and her relatives. This theory would explain some things about this faction and their belief in The Thread, as well as provide a way to incorporate known Sith history and canon into the new story he tells in The Acolyte. Find out why the idea of Darth Plagueis teaching wizard Brendock how to create life is so interesting and why he was the first to do it.
The Witches' Power To Create Life Feels Opposed To "The Thread"
As revealed in The Acolyte episode 3, Mother Anisyea teaches Osha and Mae about their coven's belief in "The Thread". Believing that all are tied and bound together, the Witches of Brendock don't see the galaxy's energy field "as a Force to be wielded", as pulling on one thread too hard can cause events to greatly unravel and change everything. As a result, the eventual revelation that Aniseya seemingly used the Force to create life and produce Mae and Osha certainly feels opposed to this coven's established beliefs.
Manipulating the force to create new life seems like a great calling. Therefore, one would think that Aniseya and her clan would never think of using this power. However, her unique position and the Sith Lord's influence may have caused Anisyea to look beyond her own traditions before using this new power.
Theory: Sorcerers learn about Darth Plagueis power
Confirming that they haven't held a promotion ceremony since their exile, it seems Mother Aniseya and her magical friends are just trying to survive "on the edge". Extinction." Similarly, Mae and Osha are wonderful gifts to help develop and strengthen their order. For that, it may be Darth Plagueis who takes advantage of the despair of these banished tribes and brings them the powers they learn outside of The Thread. common practice.
The theory is that the wheel learned to create life through the Force from Darth Plagueis, not the other way around. Likewise, manipulating the Force so far seems more like a power derived from the Sith Lords than a primal power created by these wizards alone, based on what they believe. Given the apparent destruction of the circle at the end of episode 3 of Acolyte, the idea of Plagueis sharing a secret history with wizards prior to the events of Acolyte certainly makes sense.
Why Plagueis helps wizard Brendock
There are several reasons why Darth Plagueis might offer to share his powers with the wizard Brendock. The first is purely experimental. Perhaps Plagueis is still studying this ancient power and trying to perfect the process. Similarly, the League of Plagueis is likely to present itself as a prime candidate for the suit as they are in exile and looking to raise their ranks.
It is also possible that Plagueis wanted to use the circle to create his apprentice and offer his help to increase his power in the dark side. Finally, Mae is trained by a master who looks very similar to a Sith Lord (and possibly the canon version of Plagueis). Additionally, well-known Star Wars canon has established that the Sith Lords have consistently sought to create powerful Force dyads, the rare bond between Force-sensitive beings that Osha and Mae definitely share.
